First Bigass DroringMay 9, 2010Pilot Pens on Stonehenge, bitch. It’s a big drawing with like heck of detail. How big? I don’t have a tape measure built into my body, so I don’t know. Bigger than a normal type size drawing but smaller than the Moon. Here is a picture of it not composite style: slowpokeApril 30, 2010Ey MengApril 13, 2010I haven’t been keeping up with the website. I still haven’t uploaded any art. I still don’t have good pictures of anything I’ve made. Someone want to photograph all my artwork for me?? In any case, go to www.pdaofunt.tumblr.com to see real art, I work on dat site yo. I should have some shit up ons here soon, I’m workin on a bunch of drawings. But I feel like large-ass scale drawings are going to be hard to catalogue as well.Whatever. March 25, 2010Still haven’t finished one of the big pieces discussed previously. The wintery ice one is done, the swamp is almost. I need a small pickup truck, so that I can take them to my studio and work on it. I hate painting at the school, I’d have to haul a buncha shit up there and then make sure it don’t get stolen, or Left Behind(tm). It’s a flimsy excuse but it holds up, for me. Drawing is the shit. Painting is cool and all but I’m not as comfortable with it. Things don’t come out like I ask them to, but drawings generally do. You all got a pen and shit, be all scratchin on dat pape, getting your draw on, feels real good yeah? It’s all good when you’re drawing. I did two big drorings that are pretty much done, there’s more work I think to be done on them but I want a crit first. I’m working on a third that will be really cool when finished, I believe. It’s super detailed and it just feels natural making it, and I think those are the times my best things get made. I think and doodle and think and sketch and think, not even until I think I’m ready to start something. Due to my terrible Sloth when it comes to actual labour, I spend some more time thinking and not making. Hopefully this results in good artwork being made easily at some point. But I hope and wish for a lot of things, so we shall see. I don’t know what I’m really writing about right now, it don’t matter. It’s my ass website, I can do what I want. Maybe I want to post the lyrics to an ICP song. In potential energy land, I already potentially have. Ooh boy I wonder what spammers will comment on how much they found my blog useful. Final day – last 24 hoursMarch 1, 2010ignore time on image 24 hours to finish two big paintings I’m not closed to finishing. woop. mid-concept sketchFebruary 22, 2010![]() there are 10 kittens in this image can you find any of them no you cant i just tricked you Sometimes my paintings have concepts or sketches made of what they will be before I make them, usually because it was just an idea or something I had that I started in my sketchbook. I don’t like to work too straight from an image, even if it’s one I made myself. I’d prefer to just have a good mental idea or image of what I want to see happen and that generally works. The execution is where you let your body do what you know it can and trust your brain to not overwork or fuck things up. In any case, sometimes once I’ve started working on or sometimes even when I’ve finished one, I’ll do a mid- or post- concept drawing. This time I wanted to do it to see if the ice caves that were beginning to form in my painting would still fit with the patten-colourfield-minimalism I had originally envisioned. I’m down. It also provides a natural distrubance of the pattern-field that I hope reads well in the spiral of trees. I won’t be laying the pattern out so boringly in the first one, that’s for the swamp one. I should explain myself at some point. Whatever, not right now. Robot SlothFebruary 16, 2010Ever want to see a robotic sloth go round and round? It’s not even that slow. I guess it’s a nice sloth pace. Sloth. http://www.larsbrunstrom.com/verksidor/sloth/slothvid.html Aluminium Burgin’February 9, 2010Spell:Cast:Metal: Styrofoam into Aluminium. |
